BIPV Case Study | Chikan Power Supply Station BIPV Project

The mandatory standard "General Specification for Energy Conservation and Renewable Energy Utilization in Buildings" GB55015, which was officially implemented by the country on April 1, 2022, stipulates that new buildings must install solar energy systems.

The new construction project of the 10kV Gongfu Line Xiaoguan Substation of Chikan Power Supply Station is located in Kaiping District, Jiangmen City, Guangdong Province, 113.1° east longitude, 22.6° north latitude, in the southern part of Guangdong Province. Jiangmen is located in the subtropical zone, with a mild climate and abundant rainfall. The average annual temperature is 22.2-22.9 degrees Celsius and the average annual rainfall is about 2055 mm. Under the premise of ensuring the overall appearance of the building, this project uses photovoltaic power generation glass to replace traditional insulating glass on the four facades and roof, and adds a supporting electrical system for the power generation glass.

The building's exterior curtain wall absorbs solar energy and converts it into electrical energy, saving electricity costs through active production capacity, and obtaining economic benefits to balance the cost of building curtain wall expenditures. In addition, photovoltaic glass will continue to generate income after 25 years.

The project uses 500mm×1200mm Mingyang solar glass, and the skylight uses opaque double-laminated hollow solar glass to ensure sound insulation and heat insulation while ensuring power generation. In order to meet the lighting needs, the facade uses 20% translucent laminated hollow solar glass, which saves energy and reduces carbon dioxide emissions by 8.58 tons annually.

This project is another photovoltaic energy storage distribution station project jointly built by Mingyang Photovoltaic Glass and China Southern Power Grid. Compared with the previous first photovoltaic energy storage distribution room in Baiyun District, Guangzhou, this project fully and reasonably utilizes the roof and facade resources of idle power room buildings, conforms to the design concept of energy conservation and environmental protection, and is more ornamental. "Empowering buildings and making the world more beautiful", Mingyang Photovoltaic Glass will continue to promote the transformation of energy-consuming cities into energy-producing cities and contribute to the integrated development of photovoltaic buildings in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
