Construction of the first Sino-German offshore wind power project begins

On December 18, 2024, the first Sino-German offshore wind power project jointly developed by BASF and Mingyang started construction in Zhanjiang, Guangdong. The wind farm is expected to be put into operation in 2025, and its power generation will mainly provide renewable energy electricity for BASF's Zhanjiang integrated base.

Ming Yang Group said that under the common vision of accelerating the world to achieve net zero emissions, Ming Yang is committed to continuous technological innovation and working with partners to promote low-carbon transformation. As a partner of BASF, Ming Yang will make full use of its leading advantages in clean energy equipment and solutions to help BASF build green lighthouse factories and zero-carbon industrial parks, set an example for clean energy to help sustainable and intelligent production, and promote the early realization of global dual-carbon goals.

The Xuwen Dongsan offshore wind power demonstration project is an important support for BASF's integrated base in Zhanjiang to achieve 100% renewable energy supply. The successful implementation of this project will accumulate demonstration experience for the industry, promote the energy structure transformation of Guangdong Province, and write a new chapter for green and low-carbon development. At the same time, BASF and Mingyang will pool their strengths to help the development of the wind power industry with highly safe, reliable and cost-effective technologies and products.

The demonstration project is located in Zhanjiang City, Guangdong Province, with a total installed capacity of 500MW. It is jointly built by BASF and Ming Yang Smart Energy. It is the first offshore wind power project that BASF has participated in developing outside of Europe.
